The Marion C. Early R-V School District located in Morrisville, MO, is accepting qualified applicants for the position of Secondary Counselor.  MCE is a 4 day school week district located conveniently between Bolivar and Springfield, MO.

Summary

Teachers are responsible for providing direct instruction to students and maintaining an environment conducive to learning

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The Counselor is:

  • Teach guidance units effectively. 
  • Encourage staff involvement to ensure the effective implementation of the guidance curriculum.
  • Help students establish goals and develop and use planning skills in collaboration with parents.
  •  Assist students in determining their abilities, interests, assessment results, and goals to encourage student educational and career planning. 
  • Demonstrate accurate and appropriate interpretation of assessment data and the presentation of relevant, unbiased information. 
  • Counsel individual students and small groups of students with identified needs/concerns. 
  • Consult effectively with parents, teachers, administrators and other relevant individuals, both in-district and outside agencies. 
  • Implement an effective referral process in collaboration with parents, administrators, teachers, and other school personnel.
  • Provide a comprehensive and balanced guidance program in collaboration with school staff.
  • Aide in development of building academic schedule in collaboration with principal. 
  • Scheduling of students 
  • Provide support for other school programs. 
  • Demonstrate positive interpersonal relations with students, educational staff, and parents/patrons. 
  • Coordinate the district’s Assessment Program in cooperation with teachers, principals, and the superintendent for assessment. 
  • Missouri Assessment Program (MAP) End-of-Course (EOC) Exams for Fall and Spring: o Attend annual training updates (online or in person). o Work to create district testing schedules (fall and spring). o Ensure that testing schedules are properly submitted to DESE. o Initiate purchase order for online ordering of materials. o Distribute EOC reports to high school counselor and assistant to the superintendent. 
  • Missouri Assessment Program (MAP), grades 3-8: o Attend annual training updates (on-line or in person). o Prepare MAP Examiners’ training handouts and checklist for school testing coordinators. o Work to create district testing schedules. o Ensure that testing schedules are properly submitted to DESE. o Initiate purchase order for online ordering of materials. o Receive and distribute district testing materials. o Verify each school’s testing materials upon completion of the testing. o Ensure that response sheets are mailed. o Ensure security of testing materials from receipt to return. o Distribute MAP reports to school counselors and assistant to the superintendent. 
  • Possess professional and responsible work habits. 
  • Follow the profession’s ethical and legal standards and guidelines, as well as promote cultural diversity and inclusivity in school policy and interpersonal relationships. 
  • Performs other duties as assigned at the request of the superintendent, superintendent designee, or principal.

Qualifications

Education

Masters Degree in Guidance and Counseling, Bachelors Degree, Graduate Degree preferred

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

A valid Missouri teaching certificate and complete transcript(s) of college credit must be on file for each teacher before the beginning of each new school year. It is the duty of each teacher to possess a valid certificate that covers the academic year (the teaching assignment/s and all other areas listed on the certificate). The teacher must assure that all professional development requirements and other DESE requirements are met to keep certification current.

Conditions and Environment

The individual who holds this position will regularly work in a school environment that is noisy and active.  Occasionally the individual will be required to work outside in rain and snow and temperatures below freezing and above 100 degrees to perform such tasks as loading and unloading students from district transportation and supervising recess
